Esports Betting Outlook: Kiev Major Starts Now For Dota 2, Kicks Off Action-Packed Season

Kiev Major Dota 2
So it begins. The Kiev Major is underway today, kicking off what will be a busy summer across the world of esports with tens of millions to be won. That’s before we even get to The International in August, which last year awarded over $20 million.

Where to bet on esports

Bet365

Week in and week out, Bet365 gives us a perfect marriage of website navigation and sheer market numbers to consistently top of our list of the best esports betting sites. This week, the Kiev Major headlines the selection.

SkyBet

SkyBet is almost certainly the site that offers the biggest number of esports betting markets by a decent margin, both in terms of game coverage and individual bets within those matches. League of Legends and Dota 2 are at the top of their list this week.

Betway

On top of the Betway Month of Mayhem esports offer, it also has a CS:GO Giveaway promotion. Once again, one of the leading esports betting sites makes up for a comparative lack of markets with a total immersion into the industry.

Unikrn

Unikrn seems to be taking advantage of the comparative lack of major CS:GO events and focusing on the smaller tournaments. It is the only site this week with Counter-Strike making a strong showing in the list of bets.

Ladbrokes

Ladbrokes is again quite narrow in its scope of esports markets. But naturally they have League of Legends headlining the action. Despite that savviness, however, there is but a single Dota 2 market even as the Kiev Major gets underway.

Pinnacle

Pinnacle, as always, needs a serious revamp and update to once again be competitive. The coverage is pretty good, but the latest odds and schedule is intermingled with outdated offers and bets on tournaments long since concluded.

The week in esports events

From here on out we’ll rarely be shy of an esport event to bet on, so let’s take a look at this week’s lineup:

League of Legends

As always, we have a whole heap of Splits and playoffs to keep an eye on. But this week marks the start of the Mid-Season Invitational in Brazil, the Summer Open Qualifiers and the Summer Promotion.

Dota 2

Not only is the $3 million Kiev Major beginning today, but it’s been confirmed that Seattle will play host to The International, the biggest esport event on the global calendar, from Aug. 7-12.

StarCraft

This weekend, 80 of the world’s best StarCraft II players are heading to Austin, Texas, for the World Championship Series and a $100,000 prize pool. In June, the other side of the Atlantic plays host to similar and of course there’s constant action in Korea.

CS:GO

CS:GO fans are still in the calm before the storm, but what a storm it will be. More than $2.3 million to be won from May through August, beginning with the Intel Extreme Masters XII in Sydney next week.
